After applying for a writer position for a very progressive, forward thinking, possibly even radically controversial organization that Keniece Ford deeply believes in, she submitted a writing sample about how death, doom, and destruction is the obvious state of existence and consciousness in a world that does not value the planet nor life in general. She wrote about women re-connecting with their healing, feminine nature while remembering and re-introducing reverence for the divine feminine to the world. In response, she was asked to offer five steps to healing the Earth and the women of the planet. This article is her response!
1. We are Spirits having a human experience
This truth is in alignment with self-perspective, self-positioning, and self-efficacy. When we begin to see ourselves first as spirit beings inhabiting a body, we glide into a harmonious existence or way of life called spirituality. Spirituality is the acknowledgement of all things in existence as extensions of the source of divine intelligence or what many call God, the Most High, Supreme Being, Universe, etc. Spirituality is a universal perspective of all that exists absent of religious doctrine or dogma. It is a way of life accessible to all beings just because they exist. It’s the honoring of life in all its many forms with a commitment to evolving.
Self-perspective and positioning is a reference point needing identification because our Western society and culture perpetuates individualism and narcissism resulting in a nation of self-centered, self-absorbed people. This is fine, we are where we are and, in the context of healing it’s important to meet people where they are. Now, add the element of seeking self for the purpose of realizing the self is truly a spirit housed by matter expressed as a body, and we get self realization, an ingredient for self worth and love.
2. Reverence for Divine Love and Intelligence
Reverence for divine love and intelligence is woven into the fabric of our being, however patriarchy based conditioning experienced in the forms of religion, colonialism, imperialism, and white supremacy, has distorted many peoples’ perspective of what God/Goddess truly is. Depending on your religious belief you may be under the spell of thinking your religion is above all others, and that if they don’t accept the beliefs you possess they are spiritually deficient and doomed. You may be one who subscribes to a philosophy that encourages self-generated power, knowledge, and wisdom but rejects the idea of an intelligent and loving source from which we all generated.
True reverence for divine love and intelligence happens when there is acceptance, not tolerance, for all people and beliefs regardless of race, religion, gender, creed, nationality, sexual preference, blah, blah, blah. In fact these labels begin to dissipate when one has true reverence for the divine. In this practice lies a natural desire to care for, love, and respect everything and everyone, as we are all extensions of each other and divine intelligence.
3. Be committed to love
Love are companions of empathy, compassion, freedom, justice, and liberty. When we are in love (with life), we want for others what we want for ourselves. Please be the first to raise your hand if you are willing to relinquish your personal freedom, disagree with justice, hate liberty, or have no idea what compassion or empathy mean. Love is not selfish, is not based on property or ownership. Love is not hateful, it is kind. Love is unconditional and eternal, it does not die, though it may transform. Love is more than an emotion. Love is a practice, a way of life that transcends negative, lower level frequencies where emotions like jealousy, envy, greed, and hate exist.
If you make a commitment to love no matter the situation, your perspective shifts, your life changes and no one is ever in a position to do anything to you. You are no longer a victim, which removes the need to ever have to defend yourself. If everybody had this commitment there would be no wars or violence or at least they wouldn’t last very long. All the pain and tragedy happening on the planet started with somebodys’ need for love. This principle of commitment to love, alone, has the power to heal the planet and every being in her. Once genuine love for self is attained or simply an intention, genuine love for others becomes intrinsic.
4. Discover Why you Came
I’ve talked a lot about divine intelligence, another name for God/Goddess. I like the name “Divine Intelligence”. It’s a firm reminder of that which we all come from is not only divine, but intelligently so! Stop to ask yourself, ‘‘did this intelligence create all of the grandeur we float amongst just for us to work, pay bills, and die?” I bet your inner wisdom is screaming, “Hell no!”
Think about how many of us live our lives working an un-fulfilling job to fund a particular lifestyle. These lifestyles consist of, often times, more house than we know what to do with, fancy, air-polluting cars, more clothes, shoes, and accessories than we have room for, excessive amounts of food that is slowly killing us from the inside out. Somehow, either we don’t care or don’t realize the psychopathic nature of these cycles we maintain. Mostly everything we do is ultimately working against us, but we wonder why the world and damn near everyone it has gone mad.
We all came to the planet with unique gifts and talents, talents to use for the greater good and contribution to all there is. What are yours? Discover your purpose, live in it and live on it!
5. Honor Great Mother Nature
Mother Nature is not for us…she is part of us and we, like everything else that lives and breathes upon her, are her children. — 12 Ethic’s of Walking the Red Road
This quote says it all! It is the product of the four aforementioned parts. We have gotten away from our connection with the planet. We violently capture and maintain animals in excessive amounts and then eat them. Many of us have forgotten the invaluable benefits of plant based diets, a diet forfeited for an over indulgence in processed foods (we wonder why we’re sick). Trash and toxic substances pollute our communities, wildlife, oceans, rivers, lakes, and air. The planet provides us with our every need, but we ravish and deplete her natural resources leaving ourselves also ravished and depleted.
If we remember to honor our great Mother Earth, we remember to honor women who are also great mothers, high priestesses and keepers of life. These are just some of the ways to begin the healing journey of our women and our planet. Both are symbols of life because their ability to nurture and then give birth. Just as we’re all children of the Great Mother, we are all the children of all the women of the world. When the mother is well her children are well.

Love the part about acceptance versus tolerance. Many people don't understand the difference.
It's a very different concept indeed. An interesting exercise would be to imagine what the world would look like if we accepted rather than tolerate!
